Inspired by the teachings of the origins of yoga during an Indian and Asian philosophy class in college, Ashley delved more deeply into her own yoga practice and earned her Practical Yoga Instructor certification.
While pursuing her undergraduate degree in Communication with dual minors in Philosophy and International Studies, at the University of Tampa, she taught weekly classes in Vinyasa yoga, Power yoga, and guided meditation to students and faculty.
Ashley's purpose, or dharma, as a yoga teacher became clear when one of her regular students confided that attending her classes helped her in her battle with depression.
She began to wonder how she could help people discover more ease in their lives, especially after witnessing the stress caused by the disconnect between body and breath in many of the people with whom she worked in corporate America.
After returning home to the beach on Plum Island in Newbury, MA, Ashley earned her 200 hour certification through Vishuddha YTT. With a lifelong connection to the ocean, she incorporates its teachings of resilience, patience, and impermanence into her yoga classes on the North Shore.
To “Ride the Wave” is to allow things to be exactly as they are without resisting or grasping. Ashley can’t wait to meet you on your mat—a place where you can also meet yourself.
